What’s in My Art Studio?

I am budgeting time during September and October to focus on some of my personal artwork.

The projects range from cards and paintings to organizing older pieces for digital posters and other products. Some images will be given a new life, while others will be retired as I begin to shape a more focused collection. I plan to create several ballet dancer paintings and ballet art studies during the second half of 2026. The first original watercolour in the series is Ballet Slippers, now available as a printable fine-art card in the Digital Cards collection.

I occasionally film original watercolour painting studies for practice or simply on a whim and share the creative process on YouTube. This Red-winged Blackbird painting is one of those pieces. Inspired by Canadian birds and wetland wildlife, the original watercolour has now been converted into a printable 5" × 7" fine-art card. A coordinating Red-winged Blackbird fine-art poster will be available soon.

Most of my artwork is created in watercolour these days. I have discovered that the medium speaks to me a little more strongly than acrylic, although I still enjoy working in different styles. I continue to create small illustrations and occasionally accept commissions when the project and timing are right.

For the rest of this year, my focus will be on finishing my personal illustrations, developing new cards, and building my collection of digital artwork.

We will see how it all comes together under the Dawn McNaught banner.

For now, I am simply happy to have the time and space to return to my own art.

Please check back for digital artwork for your home, printable greeting and seasonal cards, and a few crafts you can print and enjoy for your own use.

My larger pieces will be shown locally, and I am also creating a place on the website where you will be able to view them. I am working on that now.

I'll post a link here when it's completed.
