It has been a crazy year… and it just started!

Bread is an art form

I reinvigorated my cooking blog several months ago, around the same time I began developing my website. That naturally led to reviving my YouTube channel as well. Somewhere in the middle of juggling all three, while also working on new watercolours, I decided to see if I could make everything work together. That includes my recipes, my artwork, and the graphic designer in me. This is where we are now.

I still have real-world projects that need to be finished, and my books have not been forgotten either. Now that the move is complete, I am down to the last 15 percent of organizing. After that, I can tackle the final decorating, which somehow fits perfectly into this slightly wild ecosystem I am building.

It all works for me because I am an observational baker and cook. I see food as an art form in the same way I see painting. A story or a painting can begin just by walking past a bakery, hearing a piece of music from Christmas that reminds me of The Nutcracker, which turns into ginger snap cookies, and then into a painting of a ballerina. The smell of coffee and a glance at the news might remind me to write a few more paragraphs of a book, or to create something calming for YouTube. Sometimes that “something” is simply a quiet moment, like watching the cat stare out the window, and letting my nervous system settle. It is all the same creative process, rooted in observing the world around me.

As observant as I am, I am also noticing how quickly time is moving. It is already the end of January. My Christmas cards are packed away until next year, and I do have art, recipes, and other printable or downloadable items coming to this website. I need a few more days to finish some digital tasks that also require physical creation, but new items will be added shortly. Some will be free downloads, and others will be bundled packages. I am working through those now.
