A play on light and the dappling it creates in the wheat and prairie grasses, with an old silo basking in the morning sun. The sunlight plays across the scene, from the sky and gentle clouds to the heads of wheat, illuminating them as the centre piece of the piece.
 
This painting is inspired by my childhood memories of living in Saskatchewan, close enough to farmers’ fields that seemed to stretch on forever to the horizon. The lower perspective reflects my view as a young girl, looking across those expansive fields.
 
This is one of my last large paintings from 2025. I created it while developing imagery for Saskatchewan and the Provincial Pride Collection of cards, which I am still producing. The play of light in this piece was a true delight to explore on a larger scale.
