This image was conceived at the start of the invasion of Ukraine. The sketches made while watching the news lingered with me, as did the powerful, unsettling images. The world’s conflicts hit with an intensity that was hard to process amid the upheaval of the time.
I held onto those sketches, and as each new conflict unfolded, this piece gradually took shape. Its final form emerged while observing a bent street lamp outside my window—a quiet, grounding moment that allowed the work to come to its conclusion.
