“Silent Strength” is a tender yet powerful watercolour portrait of a black draft horse with a soft white blaze. Gentle dappling across the coat catches the light, giving the image depth and dimension, while the softened brushwork brings a quiet, almost nostalgic mood to the piece. The bridle’s gleam and the horse’s steady gaze balance strength with calm dignity.
 
I’ve painted horses for years, but after several commissions in 2023 I began working larger, allowing me to capture both the physical presence and the soulful character of these animals. This portrait reflects the grace, softness, and silent power that draft horses carry so naturally.
